Grant Services
The Odum Institute assists researchers in developing grant proposals and budgets and assists in administering these grants once they are awarded. For information on research projects currently supported at the Odum Institute, click here. For more information, contact Peter Leousis, 966-2350.
Locating Funding
Each semester, the Institute offers short courses for faculty and graduate students on locating sources of funding. See the Odum Institute short course schedule for times and locations.
UNC Research Funds
Various research funds are available through the university.
Office of Research Development
The Office of Research Development assists faculty members who seek to develop proposals for large, interdisciplinary projects or to apply for awards that limit submissions from the university. For more information, contact Jacqueline Resnick, 962-7503.
Use of Human Subjects
UNC-CH's policy on education requires that all investigators using human subjects be certified. This includes all faculty, staff, and students.
UNC Internal Review of Grant Proposals
Before proposals are sent to a funding agency, most must undergo internal university review. (Exceptions are grants and fellowships that the sponsor specifically says are to be made to the individual investigator rather than to the institution.)
Grant Administration
Some UNC departments have adequate resources to administer externally funded research projects while others do not. The Odum Institute administers grants for social science researchers whose projects require more support, or more sophisticated support, than their department can or wishes to provide.
